While no weather model is perfect, the High Resolution Canadian model was predicting the risk of 200+mm. The area of 100+mm was also pretty well forecast. This model will likely be the basis for the ECCC planned upcoming point forecast product.

Rain or drizzle persisting over all but extreme western areas today. Eases off with sun in the west Monday. The equivalent of 2-3 months of rainfall over parts of CB this weekend has resulted in extensive flash flooding (reminder, Canada still does not have a flash flood warning program!). Sigh.

I know that our own TV meteorologists (like @ryansnoddon.bsky.social & Kalin MitchellCTV) do have regular reminders with nice analogies to help the public understand the alerting terminology.
