"if you don't like public sector pay go to the private sector", a chara, if private sector pay is to remain high it will be benchmarked against public sector pay. A rising tide will in fact lift all boats. If you think the public sector is so great, go leave the private sector.

For anyone that cares this is why I think the govt should offer insurance, housing, basic goods etc as well. If we *have* to have markets, the govts job should be to offer the basic version of things to force the private market to either compete on price or on features.
