Stereotype humor in particular is something that isn't ever funny, if you're in a group you've heard all the stereotypes and you're sick of people bringing them up, bigots actively weaponize them and it prevents them from actually seeing people as individuals.

I think that's why Family Guy clones like Paradise PD, Universal Basic Guys, and Brickleberry get ignored outside of just blanket "yeah this show sucks" reactions. Because they're trying to be edgy, that's the point, but it's so lazy and it's all been done before and it's not funny.

Also, not liking dark humor doesn't mean I find it offensive. Dark humor needs to be edgy AND funny, being edgy doesn't necessarily make it funny. Anyone can say something offensive or show something disgusting for cheap shock value, you need to be actually funny to make it work.

I admit I like South Park but it's not something I let decide how I feel about political issues for me. I like it more for the characters themselves and the humor that comes from that, not just what they say about politics, and that's why the show has been really weak lately.

That and if lowest-common-denominator edgy humor that sometimes has a moral lesson is where you get all your values from, you probably don't engage with anything more story-driven or intellectually stimulating, so Family Guy talking about suicide seems like the smartest thing you've ever heard
