I watched the new episodes with my Hazbin loving, Helluva casual viewer sister. It was fascinating to see the things she picked up on and how much more she enjoyed S3. Although, I will disagree with her about Poison being more graphic than Dirty Bird. Stolas was BOUNCING on that dick, come on!

It is repulsive how many people try to "joke" about Octavia being disgusted at his father's homosexuality rather than the parental conflicts that have been clarified to be in the plot because they cannot fathom a queer man becoming proud of his preference as he gets older using conservative panic.

I love how every Helluva Boss fan has to include the "I know this isn't perfect writing" because the bar for critical thinking is genuinely so low that the alternative to praise in the discussion is outright homophobic vitriol and conservative arguments for conversion therapy.

I'm not saying his writing is perfect, but a lot of the kneejerk reactions to his portrayal just reeks of the implied biases most people have in relation to older queers. "He's too old to be acting like that" "Grown man btw" "He is a FATHER why is he acting like a slut"

Of course his family is destroyed and his relationship with his daughter is in shambles but we don't do nuance on the internet. People SAY they want messy queer rep until they actually get it. Then its fetishization/sexualization etc.
