My closest friends in the world are those I met through art. But more specifically, I met them through being passionate about art, getting excited about art, being messy with art. Being human with art. If you water yourself down for marketability, your soul is going to leak out of your ears.

You can’t build any meaningful sort of following if you aren’t eager to also support and share the work of your fellow artists. Why should people be invested in your work if you don’t appear to show any interest in art in general?

Something I see a lot of well-meaning artists do is get discouraged when they post their work here and don’t receive feedback. You have to be social on social media. Posting and running, without ever engaging with others and their craft will not give you the results you want. Art is about community.

I wish I could, metaphorically speaking, carve myself up and devour my own flesh as a visual metaphor in regards to how much I internalize things and the satiation of self destruction.
