Quoting to emphasize this: Lancey groomed & abused Red + others. This is indefensible & unacceptable. This *is not* equivalent to being a predator nor pedophile. A 2 year age difference is not pedophilia. This *does not* mean what she did wasn't "as bad", nor that she's exempt from consequences.
Show PostI wasn't going to make a thread yet, but there's a lot I need to say on this matter. What happened to Red was horrible, undeserved, and went on for far too long. This needed to come to light. Lancey cannot stay in this community & is right to leave it. None of what I'm saying changes this fact.
Show PostMy heart goes out to every victim. I hope they can find the healing that they need. Very understandably, people have strong feelings about this situation, particularly because it involved a once-beloved community figure. None of that is wrong. This is upsetting, disturbing, and disappointing news.
Show PostIf you are too upset, stressed, or angry to be able to engage with another person (yes, any person, regardless of standpoint) in good faith and in a calm manner, then do not. Wait until you can. Jumping to argue with people out of heated emotion is contributing to the mass panic and outrage.

When anyone is liable to be attacked, rational discussion is harder to have, and correct information is harder to disseminate, because people are neither receptive nor stable enough to accept it. This is bad for everyone for a lot of reasons.
