Anyways those are my thoughts on Crimson Sky. Another example of Helluva Boss using gorgeous storytelling through song with a lot of subtle animation details to examine and unpack. I loved this episode so much. Vassago is best boy but Stolitz is endgame 💕

They also remain out of sync in the present day scenes, with Vassago reaching for Stolas’ hand and Stolas not reciprocating the touch. There’s still clearly attraction from both sides, but Stolas isn’t showing any signs of reciprocating the flame that Vassago has been carrying for him.

Stolas also doesn’t really fit aesthetically in this world that Vassago is pitching. He’s a tragic moody goth looking out of place in this sunny tropical daydream, and I think it’s no wonder he can’t see this as a real option for himself, despite it being pretty and idyllic.

There’s a deep, intimate trust and comfortability inherent to Stolitz’ bodies and movements that we’ve seen since day one, and I don’t get the sense that the same can be said for Stolas and Vassago.
