Chatbots are not the same as large language models. You can take an open source model, run it locally in your own secure environment, wrap it with your own harness - and it's a lot safer and more secure than using anthropic or open ai tools. This scaremongering hides an agenda.

Hot take: for 99% of people’s use, it makes no damn difference (except that western models cost more). Would I want to use Chinese AI for something important? Perhaps not. But American models are just as likely to produce one output for you, and another output for me.
