Spending my evening with some 17th-century wills, which means encountering the archaic word "sperate," as in the opposite of "desperate." (Sperate debts are debts you hope to collect, whereas you have lost hope in desperate debts.)

Now imagine you're under 50 - 100m's of water surrounded by #Cretaceous critters big and small (which *may* have looked less cartoony than our reconstruction from 2018). These methane seeps were oases of life, and potentially helped Seaway residents weather unpleasant environmental changes.
