Presidents don't (shouldn't) have any role in prosecuting crimes, especially political ones. Sorry, that's one of the basic principles that Trump smashed. What they *can* vow is to rebuild DOJ and appoint an AG and US Attorneys who will follow the evidence and press charges without fear or favor.
