Drax Power Station is the biggest CO² emitter in the UK, but because of a loophole in carbon accounting, it was officially classified as carbon neutral after it switched from burning coal to burning imported wood. If it installed new carbon capture technology, it could reclassify as carbon-negative.

Last month, the UK Department for Energy Security and Net Zero signed a new subsidy contract with Lynemouth biomass plant, worth £1.1 billion, for the period 2027-2031. The EA is now deciding whether to continue to exempt Lynemouth from standard limits on NOx and particulate matter until 2035.

Seems like a great event however you might have tagged us by mistake. We are located in London, Ontario, Canada. In Canada as a first start we would like to see adoption of the Climate-Aligned Finance Act without it being watered down by the Carney government. 👍
