I guess I'm the weirdo here (according to the New Yörker) but if your bridegroom's family has lost two immediate members to COVID and your family is asking for an exception to the venue's rule, you're allowed to be a little terse in your email back to them.

I know a fair number of people who cut off their parents and in every case it was something like this. "I'll put up with your idiotic bullshit so long as it doesn't directly threaten the lives of my friends and family" is a pretty fair standard imo

this is both A) a way more interesting take on the character because it would involve someone who was immensely privileged now having to wrestle with oppression B) way better because it spits in the face of JKR But seriously you don't gotta do it at all
