People who talk this way about children and childhood and growing up are very damaged by life and it makes me sad. I live in a world where there is a level of moral compromise I cannot accept and you think me childish? Who hurt you? Who didn’t value you when you were a child?

This is every bit as much of a “purity test” as any demand that a candidate not abandon fascist-targeted humans for a specious hope of political advantage. It’s just that accommodation of fascism is so ingrained as the default posture that it doesn’t register as such to people like this.
