It broke before we got there, thank goodness. The kids were unusually chill about it, and we had help within about 5 minutes. So it was about as positive an experience as it could have been.

I was originally going to do my PhD remotely but ended up moving here to Germany because of an unscrupulous employer forcing my departure from the US. I'm so glad I'm here, though, because I have an awesome group of fellow doctoral candidates in the lab that I'm excited to be on the journey with.

I'm at a virtual conference on health literacy and every single slot has at least one talk on AI and at least half of them used Flesch-Kincaid and other readability metrics to evaluate LLM output. This SUCKS. It's not exactly *hell*, but If I were darned to heck, this would be my heck.
