Some Thai lakorns (evening telly dramas) have this way of merrily racing over every plot hole which can be so much fun. Harder to do that with a book though because it only has words to carry it all. So it all depends. Plot hole because emotions are prioritised or plot hole because lazy writer?
Show PostIf I can chalk it up as "this could have been foreshadowing but the thing did not pan out" then NBD. I don't tend to notice these things too much in published works, though.
Show PostDeal breaker? No. Unless it ruins the story. I'll finish it, then never watch/read that writer again. Same thing with plot armor. The worst part is the ever growing list of writers on that list.
Show PostFor me, whether it's a deal breaker depends on how egregious the plot hole is. When it's blatantly obvious, I stop reading, but if it's subtle, I give the author a little grace--until the next one, if there are any more.
Show PostIf you find a plot hole in a story you’re reading (by someone else), is that a deal breaker for you? It would be for me if it seriously undermined the plot’s evolution or if there were other serious errors too #WritingCommunity #ReadingCommunity
