the scene where they're in a Japanese restaurant that's playing "Ue o Muite Arukō"/"Sukiyaki" takes place in March 1962, when the song had been a huge hit in Japan but hadn't been released in the US. Is the restaurant supposed to have imported a 45?

I can outniche that. In the first episode, set in 1960, they have IBM Selectric typewriters on all the desks. The Selectric wasn't introduced until 1961! Why do I know this? That has to do with my own tech origin story, the details of which are too boring to share here. @deargodwhaat.bsky.social
