They claim to be repairing leaks. Old water mains may last 50 to 70 years, many are at the end of life. Water companies replace 0.05% (sic) of their mains pipes every year. At that rate it will take two millennia to replace them all. Privatisation has worked well – for shareholders
Show PostWater companies policies of polluting rivers and dumping sewage are well known. Their failure to provide water this year, their core service, resulted in hosepipe bans. They expected them to save 5% of water use. Meanwhile their leaks were wasting 15% of water.
