There will be two schools of thought about how institutional design should respond to fascism. Approach 1 is to limit the harm that a bad actor can do in power. Approach 2 is to reduce the likelihood that a bad actor can obtain power. We should very much be thinking about #2, not so much #1.

But most of all, it is indebted to the ME community for everything it has done for me since I suddenly became bedbound with ME as a result of a COVID infection in 2022, including for directing me to the treatment that improved my health enough I was able to write this paper (from bed).
