sakura wars inspired a gazillion all-female cast music/performance based multimedia franchises yet it remains the only one brave enough to have pants as the uniform and include actual masc/gnc women and characters with diverse ethnicities and backgrounds, it's honestly embarrassing for everyone else

"unique Girls & Robots concept" is so funny tho 😭 they're making it seem like sakura wars is the first ever Mecha series to do an all female cast but honestly it was the best to ever do it and the combat uniforms go incredibly hard so I'll give them points for that

"pioneered mixed media" seems like a grand overstatement lmao but I feel like western spaces don't realize how influential sakura wars was on japanese entertainment, it's the number 1 thing being highlighted this anniversary from every news outlets to sega themselves

Today I would like to celebrate one of the most niche books I own: Phantasy Star Online 2 Fashion Catalog 2015-2016: ORACLE & TOKYO COLLECTION At over 360 pages, it's an utterly extravagant use of my limited shelf space. It is one of the heaviest, largest books I've acquired since moving overseas.
