It is actually pretty staggering the number of news outlets going to bat for private colleges but not for students on OSAP at public colleges and universities. They are doing the government's work by falling for the distraction.

The Globe is correct about the narrow point but missing the bigger one. The province's February OSAP cuts, which took hundreds of millions of dollars from mostly public university and college students, were a smokescreen to protect malfeasant private colleges. THAT'S the scandal.

This is utterly embarrassing. By no cogent understanding is America a democracy in good standing. Its elections are tainted by vote suppression and gerrymandaring; its top court has abandoned the rule of law; its vaunted system of 'checks and balances' have completely failed. It is no democracy.
