Back from a long weekend on Holy Island, walking on the shores, and serving at the altar, and speaking from the pulpit on the Feast of St Luke this Sunday, and, finally, swimming out to St Cuthbert's island in the icy cold waters this morning.

Yesterday, on the Feast of St Luke, surrounded by friends and family, I was ordained a deacon in the Church of God. The whole day was perfect from start to end, and cannot start to thank people enough, especially those who have journeyed with me over recent years.

Went with into town today, and stopped by the Alan Turing memorial in Sackville Gardens. Had forgotten he was only 41 when he died (presumed suicide). I'm now older than that, and feel the loss of life: years of loving relationships, curiosity and joy. How tragic society harms people in this way.

I'm going to keep this simple. The catheter for someone with a vagina is different to the one for someone with a penis. Whether born or corrected later. Putting someone on a ward that doesn't have access to the right equipment puts them in danger.
