Yes, Google is thinking about QLDPC codes. We built hyperbolic codes on modular, planar chips, and built extractors to access the logical qubits. arxiv.org/abs/2610.03682 This is work led by the amazing Oscar Higgott @oscarhiggott.bsky.social and Hasan Sayginel.
