Jed Hoyer said he initially connected about Kyle Tucker with Astros GM Dana Brown after GM Meetings last month. Cubs knew there was finite number of ways to improve roster & Tucker clearly makes them better. "To acquire a player like that comes at a real price but it's a price we're willing to pay."

Sounds like some momentum today

Really coming around to the idea of trading for Jesús Luzardo. The acquisition cost is reasonable and the Cubs have a ton of SP depth to ease his innings (Boyd's too). The fastball was one of the most valuable pitches in '23. If he struggles as SP in '25, there's big RP upside for '26.

Man I absolutely LOVE this. The fact that the Cubs simply went out and got their guy, worrying about third base later. That they have in-house options to play third base if needed. That free agency is still an option to fill the gap. Everything. Chefs kiss.

I could see the Cubs trying to bring them in to help with the Tucker trade. Bellinger to the Yanks, Paredes (and possibly Suzuki) to the Astros, with the Cubs getting Tucker and the Yankees getting a couple of prospects to help shore up their roster
