the deliberate obtuseness in pretending like 30K isn't a lot of money even for people who are otherwise financially stable is such chartguy behaviour. "ah but if you did actually spread out this 30K uppercut over the 80 years I'm prescribing then it's only like 30 dollars a month checkmate atheist"

I think people who have never been poor don't understand there's a difference between "poor, financially stable" and "poor, one bill away from being homeless" and $30K absolutely makes the difference there

Would it put you up a socioeconomic bracket (which some people seem to be defining "life-changing" as)? Probably not! But it'd mean you can suddenly afford to pay the bills *on time* and actually plan for the future instead of dealing with crisis after crisis
