Once more, since I still see people writing and saying "30 typhoons this year" 台風＝tropical storm 強い台風＝typhoon Only some of the 30 台風 this year became typhoons; the rest all remained at tropical storm level, several of them just barely making the minimum 18 m/s sustained wind speeds.

Today I visited the Tomizawa Archeological Site in Sendai, where remnants of a 20,000 year old pine marsh are preserved underground - which was once surface level. Remnants of a campfire are also visible - created around the same time by Palaeolithic hunter-gatherers.
