58 years ago today, Al Oliver made his MLB debut with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Batting second and playing right field, he went 1-for-5 in the Pirates' 2-1 win over the Reds at Forbes Field. His first MLB hit was a single off Clay Carroll in the fourth inning.
