"Or I kick myself out" was his reply. We were still trying to schedule our next game. He asked me to co-write what ended up being his last credited comic. He made it 3.5 years with pancreatic cancer. Fuck cancer.

I met Gerry 2 years ago and told him how much his work had meant to me. He was a true pro who carved strong careers in comics and television. A renowned jerk and top-tier pro once called me, "The Gerry Conway of the 90s." He meant it as a slur. I took it then as I carry it now: a great compliment.
