Put it this way: nobody at this point is swayed by Fox News. But all kinds of people are convinced that (e.g.) "cancel culture" is as bad as fascism, because they think the Atlantic is still a magazine for smart people, and it has obsessed over it for years. Reactionary centrists begat MAGA.

both POVs have bits of truth. full on fascists are obv worse but much of MAGA are just highly irregular low info voters in a celebrity's cult of personality. their turnout will plummet w/ pretty much any other RW candidate but the consistent GOP voters who've enabled its fascist swing will remain
