This is a good post, worth reading, and it locked something in for me: even when the court makes a nominally good ruling, as with the national guard case, they are almost certainly doing it in defense of the Republican party’s electoral prospects.

This, combined with SCOTUS and wealth inequality, are much bigger long term problems than Trump, who might drop dead tomorrow. It’s real tough to un-radicalize an entire generation (or at least a big slice of one)

yeah i think the issue here is now not so much a successful consolidation under Trump/Vance (short of a Yoon moment, I don't think they have the juice): it's the fact that the underlying energy behind Trumpism is likely going to turn the future GOP into even more of a nightmare
