In nonhierarchical polyamory, strive to treat your relationships with equity, not equality. Not every connection is going to be the same. They won't have the same needs or expectations and instead should be addresses individually in a way that is true, respectful, and unique.

A common mistake people new to Polyamory make is using Polyamory as an excuse to stay in a toxic relationship. While Polyamory can allow us to be more flexible in the types of connections we make, simply having access to more connections will not improve a toxic one.
