Look, I don't want to dogpile here but this is an astonishingly shallow definition of consciousness. Problem solving is far too low a bar & the fact that they're solving problems that humans can't is immaterial. It's kinda annoying to see people being so smug & so wrong about cognitive science.

Like I get why this is frustrating and I’m sure a lot of folks don’t have a working conception of human cognitive processes but also there are some fairly stark differences in the way that LLMs function and the way humans experience their own cognitive processes
