If you believe in rehabilitative justice, punishment only exists to encourage growth away from negative behaviors. It makes no sense to inflict new punishments for someone who has demonstrably grown from their past misdeeds, if there's no new behavior you want them to exhibit.

??? No. I see sexual assault which is a very broad term, but the people he confessed to, including the victim, deemed it reasonable to give him the lowest consequence on that list. They know more about what happened than you. This was in the past and vultures just want to dig it up.

Taking responsibility for it was the "Cooperated with Title IX investigation after discussion with the victim" part, wasn't it? Isn't this what background checks are for? I don't know of anyone who brings a list of their past crimes to a job interview.
