Note to editors: there is nothing inherently wrong with 'long sentences'. What matters is coherence. Can a reader follow the sentence? Does it contains grammatical problems? Is it a 'run-on' sentence?, etc. If you're just counting words and declaring it 'too long', you're not being a good editor.
