They could be wrong, but I think we should take seriously they’ve been studying this exact thing for thousands of years in a way that simply cannot be said of western philosophy. If it’s knowable they might just know it.

Unlike some kinds of eastern mythology, this is entirely *consistent* with some western explanations as well, eg everything Douglas Hofstadter believes. It is what my bio line refers to: we are strange loops, interacting with other strange loops. 2/2

Late Sunday entry to consciousness discourse: the hard problem is only known that way in western philosophy. In eastern, it is well solved since Buddhism is “science of mind”. To them the answer is dependent origination / no independent self. To me that clearly implies a consciousness gradient. 1/2
