It is very similar for people who have a hard time attending conferences due to child care, limited funding, high teaching loads, etc. Again, this set of people contains a very large number of maths/TCS researchers. But we mostly hear the takes from famous people from the best universities.
Show PostThis is such a good point which I believe way too few people are making. When famous people like Tao complain that for AI-generated proofs they cannot invite experts to give a talk anymore, well, this is the reality for a very large majority of maths/TCS professors right now.

Show PostNo, the work they do is not necessarily the same as the work of the small number of people you always quote. That's the point. It's not mathematics itself that's threatened. It's a certain way of doing it. You could try to look beyond that.
Show PostIt's possible even that some amount of machinery is useful if handled with care and expertise but a world where every dickhead with some money can just plough a truck through projects people are using to learn and develop an understanding in is shit.
