This is really simple, but I think it’s important to state: Banning frat parties keeps the structure of a fraternity in tact. It’s part of why the parties will “just move off campus.” It is VERY different from banning rush and dismantling the organizations.

The more I learn about this vile case the more convinced I am the only appropriate & acceptable action is the nuclear option 1- colleges & universities should be strongly encouraged to ban Greek Life 2- Cornell should lose its ivy status: have the state take it over, make it free, fire the board

And in my interviews for On the Wrong Side, school administrators often brought up ATIXA as a shield to justify illegal institutional activity. They acted as if ATIXA guidelines superseded the law. Obviously, that isn’t true. But people uninformed about the law can be pacified that way.
