When the well off kids got jobs afterwards all of their money went into their pockets. They could invest it or save it to buy a house. The students who had to borrow the money had to use a portion of their salaries to pay back the loan with interest. They could not save as much or invest the money.
Show PostThese things compound over time. I did not end up taking out very many loans during school but that meant I worked during university and during my summers and saved like scrooge to pay for things while my peers went on vacations and had more time to study. I was working during study time.
