I don't necessarily think it's the mixer. It's rather the amount of gain your ZOOM PD-1 microphone requires. You have to push your mixer into a range where it has noise. I'd suggest switching to a condenser microphone like a Rode NT-1 Signature Series or a Lewitt LCT440. Both need less gain.

I still have mine as well. Bought it at Sam Goody with my employee discount from working at Suncoast. The first few months I owned it, I listened to it non-stop.
