It is an essential subunit of the cytochrome C oxidase complex. It has no observable post-translational modifications except K487+succinyl. Compared to the proteome average, its sequence is enriched in hydrophobic residues & depleted in many hydrophilic ones.

Yeast COX1:p is encoded in 8 exons on the mitochondrial chromosome (hence the "Q"), so it is never anywhere but the mitochondria. It has 12 hydrophobic TM domains, resulting in a limited number of observable tryptic peptides, mainly in the 1st and 8th exons.
