We are very far from a situation where amnesty is possible, as Trump has sown xenophobia and fear among voters, and anti-immigrant judges in the courts. But I still believe that most voters know the majority of undocumented immigrants are not violent criminals — most are honest, hardworking people.

There are only three possible outcomes for undocumented immigrants in this country: mass deportation, amnesty, or legal limbo (i.e., status quo for last 40 years). The first causes violence in communities and harassment of citizens. The third quietly ruins people's lives, as opportunities pass them.
