A single rose is OK for Valentine's Day IF it is 130 light years across like the Rosette Nebula. Reprocessed from last February. I hope I can return to it soon because I didn't know how to take flats back then and my cooled camera was in for service. I used my Sony Alpha7 III. #astrophotography

Have this friend who is newish to #astrophotography here in Sydney. He did 40-hour mosaic on the Vela Supernova remnant in h-alpha/[O-III] …. And holy heck it is incomprehensibly magnificent! Those are exploded star gutz. At its heart is the Vela pulsar. 🔭 Shared with permission. 📸 David Elford

“The Witch Head Nebula” is a large reflection nebula about 900ly away in Orion that’s illuminated from the star Rigel (seen right). This was a filterless capture of 15 hrs, but only 10hrs were usable due to a constant stream of dimly lit satellites right across the witch’s jaw. 🔭 #Astrophotography
