What the hell are we doing? Nobody wants these lanes gone. We have a massive housing crisis that needs to be addressed, underfunded education and healthcare but here we are arresting people who want to make streets safer for everyone.

Refreshing to see reporting that places a pedestrian death in the context of a system that was designed to kill people walking. State DOT official says they plan to address the truly shocking number of pedestrian deaths and injuries by "encouraging people to use crosswalks" 🙄

That was the Never Again moment. And then it happened again and again and it is happening today and tomorrow and I am exhausted. As a teacher, it is exhausting to always be vigilant. To see bereft parents and colleagues. To know that it can be stopped.
