The exterior set wasn’t full-scale in ANH, and that was fine for how it was used, almost a forced-perspective gag. But in Empire, characters interact with it much more, climbing all over it. Building the Revel kit as a kid gave me an understanding of the two scales at which the Falcon was depicted.
