100 years ago, on 7th April 1926, Violet Gibson attempts to assassinate Benito Mussolini in Piazza del Campidoglio in Rome. She fires a shot from a pistol hidden under a black shawl draped over her arm. The bullet grazes Mussolini's nose. She is unable to fire a second shot because her pistol jams.
