So I can finally share the news that my story “The Stamp Shop” received a “Highly Commended” place in the Bridport Prize 2026, putting me into the final dozen of the anthology. If you have published poems in journals, make sure those poems are in your manuscript and keep sending poems to journals. Focus on first book contests, regularly re-read your ms. and revise it. Do not self-publish. I spent 27 years sending out my book ms. before it won an award. Keep at it.
