We solved this problem by setting up a separate online platform for important internal messages. No-one logs into the platform though, so it sends out a notification that there's been a message. By email.

Problem: University sends too much email so some gets missed Solution: 1. Important email from President to everyone 2. Dean forwards email from President to everyone in college to "make sure they see it" 3. Dept Chair forwards email from Dean to everyone in department "make sure they see it"

you absolutely never have to send someone your CV, unsolicited. But if you do, and it has straight up typos in it, or it's trivially clear you've inflated your achievements rather ~bigly~, it will do you more harm than not sending it at all. #AcademicSky

We found that the most gendered experience wasn’t work-life balance, the focus of most retention efforts. It was feeling devalued, in formal evaluations, but particularly in everyday interactions. Unlike every other topic, the gender gap in devaluation was larger among more senior faculty.
