It's not a recompilation at all. The author clearly asked an LLM to translate the decompilation of the game to Lua. The codebase is filled with evidence of this. It's a non-deterministic process that led to hundreds of game-breaking issues, either graphical or gameplay inaccuracies.

Anyone who's played it with some minimal memory of how these games work has reported the whole thing feels extremely off, yet people seem happy to give it a thumbs up because it looks cool on a headline. If you want to make an AI-generated fangame, that's fine, but don't call it something it's not.

My recommendation is to just look at the issues page for yourself, and also at the closed ones, because there's no actual guarantee those were fixed other than the author making AI-generated commits and "tests" to check if it was fixed. github.com/bryanthaboi/...
