Exciting new work on the neural correlates of conscious and suppressed visual input (binocular rivalry) from Doris Tsao’s group: www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...
Show PostMatteo @carandinilab.net has a neat piece in @thetransmitter.bsky.social about the two ground breaking papers of Adrien: The impulses produced by sensory nerve endings (1962) Part I: physoc.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1113/... Part II: physoc.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1113/...
Show PostGJs have mostly been left behind in the era of connectomes for technical reasons. But GJs are expressed, and impact spike times and network dynamics, everywhere in the brain! I can only hope this tool will spark a GJ renaissance.
Show PostBack when optogenetics first emerged, I had a crazy idea. Could we use opto to spark a signal in one neuron, then listen for its echo in a coupled neighbor? And can we measure GJ strength by impact on spike timing, instead of using small slow nudges of current?
Show PostLoved this piece by @carandinilab.net for @thetransmitter.bsky.social for the centennial of Adrian and Zotterman's discovery of action potentials - I get chills just thinking about the realisation dawning on them, as they refined the neuromuscular preparation. www.thetransmitter.org/history-of-n...
