I accompanied a patient to an outpatient clinic today. The appointment letter stated 'due to COVID, no carers may accompany patients'. So I couldn't. None of the medics or patients in the clinic were masked ... but I was. I've fallen through the looking glass .. but this ain't no wonderland.

Old friend was a medic who became so demoralised they retrained as a barrister specialising in medical negligence. They fell ill .. got fobbed off .. spent years waiting for a consultant apt. The consultant said "and what do you do?". I'll never forget the consultant's terrified expression.
