This is, quite frankly, disgusting, if that is part of their reasoning. Wider family has NO right to stop a trans ADULT from seeking the care that is appropriate for them. Going by this logic, some loon who disagrees with invasive surgery could stop a relative getting cancer care. It's lunacy.
